Tutors Needed - 2BC is currently seeking volunteers to help tutor elementary to high school students in the following subjects: Math, Science, Language Arts/English and Foreign Languages. We will be conducting background checks on all potential volunteers.

New Church Hours - Beginning April 1, 2022, the new church hours are as follows: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays-11:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. (office and building), Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays-6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. (building only), Saturdays-9:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. (building only), Closed on Fridays.
2025 Giving Envelopes - The Office is preparing to order personalized giving envelopes for year 2025. Please note that if your 2024 envelopes have not been picked up, then custom envelopes will not be ordered for you. Please email secretary@2bcsouthside.org if you wish to have envelopes printed or if you received envelopes and do not need more or no longer use envelopes.
Attention All Ministry Leaders - Effective immediately, for all in-building weekday meetings that are held before 6:00 P.M., have a ministry member posted at the Security Desk from 15 minutes before through 15 minutes after the meeting start time to give building access/egress to meeting participants. Please feel free to contact a Trustee if you have questions.
The Medical Ministry Needs You - The Medical Ministry seeks volunteers with varied backgrounds to help fulfill its duties. You will be trained. Please inquire if you are a high school student (age 16 and up) with an interest in healthcare, student in a medical-related field, CNA, Nurse, Pharmacy Tech, Phlebotomist, Caretaker and many more! Volunteer In The Garden - Come and Volunteer in the Garden! Eden’s Garden is open to volunteers every Saturday (weather permitting) from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Young Adult Bible Study - The YAM invites you to join their monthly Bible Study that will be held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in conference rooms 7, 8, and 9 starting February 6th, both in person and virtually. Please join them.
Women's Fellowship - The Ladies of Virtue (LOV) will hold the monthly Women’s Fellowship on 1st Saturdays at 10:00 A.M. – 12 noon starting on March 4th in the Multi-Purpose Room. Please come out and participate.
Corporate Congregational Prayer - The Intercessory Prayer and the Prayer Praise Ministries invite the 2BC congregation to join them for intercessory prayer in the sanctuary on Wednesdays from 6:00 P.M. to 6:20 P.M. (just before weekly Bible Study), starting March 8th. Also, stop by the prayer request table and place requests in the box and/or pick-up prayer tools.
Wanted: Food Protection Manager - Bread of Life of Second Baptist is seeking a Certified Food Protection Manager. The 3-day certification class starts in April. Senior Line Dancing - Starting May 31st and every 2nd and 4th Wednesday thereafter, the Pastor’s Aide Ministry will sponsor Line Dancing from 11:00 A.M. to 12 noon in the Fellowship Hall. The class will be led by Tia Davis at no charge, but donations are appreciated.
Holy Communion To Sick and Shut In - Starting in June 2023, the Deacon and Deaconess Ministries will resume administering communion to members and family members who are sick and shut-in. To schedule communion, contact your family Deacon or send email to Deacons@2bcsouthside.org by the second Sunday of each month.
Bereavement and Grief Counseling - Sis. Elizabeth Taylor, a student intern at Brightpoint Community College, is completing her internship here at Second Baptist under the supervision of Minister Alice Tamrie. She will be available to work with individuals, families, and groups who may be mourning or going through the grief process starting September 11, 2023. Join The Young Adult Choir - The Young Adult Choir seeks new members who are ages 18 – 39 years. This choir supports Sunday worship service on 5th Sundays. Purchase Christmas Poinsettias - The Beautification Ministry will purchase poinsettias to beautify our church, and subsequently give them to sick & shut-in members. You are invited to purchase a poinsettia in memory of a loved one by completing and submitting the request form to Lillie Tennessee, Bert Bonner, or Shirley Jeffers by November 24th. The cost is $10 each. Request forms are available on the designated table in the church lobby.

Meet And Greet - The New Member Support Ministry invites All Members (both current and new) to join Pastor Hodge, Ministers, Deacons, Trustees and Ministry Leaders during a Meet and Greet event that will be held immediately after worship service on Sunday, December 8th. Angel Tree 2024 - The Deaconess Ministry is sponsoring the Angel Tree Project which has two components: (1) Donations to Partner Organizations in the form of cash, gift card (with receipt), or check payable to the Children’s Hospital, Chesterfield Pregnancy Help Center, and Ronald McDonald House. Please DO NOT make these checks payable to Second Baptist Church. (2) Donations to Assist Second Baptist Families can be made in the form of cash, gift card (with receipt), or check payable to Second Baptist Church. Families in need must complete and return the Angel Tree Request Form to the Deaconess Ministry by Sunday, December 8th, 2024. Request forms are available on the Angel Tree Display table in the church lobby.
Annual Memorial Service - The Deaconess Ministry invites everyone to participate in the Annual Memorial Service, a time to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away - both recently and in years past.The special recognition service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11th. Please feel free to bring a photograph of your loved one to place on our display table or to hold during the Service. Attendance may be in-person or virtual via livestream.
Invest In RISC - The Second Baptist congregational investment goal to RISC (Richmonders Involved to Strengthen our Communities) for year 2024 is $10,000. So far, Second Baptist has invested $6,491. We are $3,509 short of our goal. If you have not made your investment, please do so using one of the following methods: a) mail a check to RISC, P.O. Box 4931, Richmond, VA 23220; b) online through the RISC website at https://www.riscrichmond.org/invest; c) through your bank’s online Bill Pay tool.
Indoor Walking - Second Baptist Leadership is pleased to announce the expansion of our walking trail to include walking around the Fellowship Hall on Wednesdays from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. This is in addition to Senior Line Dancing that takes place at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesdays. Let’s keep fit!

Sunday Morning Bible Study - Sunday Morning Bible Study for adults and young people takes place from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. The class is held in person and via Zoom.The Zoom link can be found on the left side of the main page of our web site.

Caring and Sharing Ministry - If you need access to food, emergency housing, clothing or employment resources, the Caring and Sharing Ministry is here to help. H.O.P.E. Ministry - The Harvesters of Positive Energy (H.O.P.E.) Ministry is a confidential support group designed to support families and caregivers of those who have been diagnosed with any kind of cancer.
